Solar Powered Mycelium Sound System [Image Directory] 
INTRODUCTION: During my 2019 Spring Quarter at UC Davis, I attended DES 165, a course on industrial design taught by Beth Ferguson. My second project was to create a concept based around solar power. I chose to create a solar-power sound system with the added bonus of using mycelium for the portion of the housing.

Ideation process for the sounds system. The biggest challenge was in finding how to mount the electronics to mycelium while also maintaining its structural integrity.

For some extra flair, I chose to laser cut face and base plates for the speakers and central control unit. Note that the central control unit houses the solar panel and volume control.
